Angler's Covey Guided Private Water Fly Fishing Trip

Colorado's wilderness is home to some of the best and most accessible fly fishing on the planet, most of which is on publicly owned land for everyone to enjoy! But when you want a mellow, no hassle experience just minutes from Colorado Springs, Angler's Covey provides access to private waters and a fishing experience second to none. Private waters deliver solitude any day of the year and increase the chances for that trophy fish. We offer guided fly fishing trips with access to EIGHT different world-class fishing spots on private lands: Puma Hills River Ranch, The Abell River Ranch, Rainbow Valley,  Santa Maria Ranch, Bar Star Lake, Rainbow Falls Mountain Trout, Rawhide Ranch, and Shawnee Ranch. Each of these locations offer something special with solitude and unpressured fish.

Rod fees for these properties are in addition to the guided trip fee. These are "Trespass Fees" set forth by the landowners.

Bar Star Lake is our newest offering and boast some of the best stillwater fishing in the area. This 40 acre lake boasts generous populations of rainbow trout in the 12 inch to 28 inch class. The property has a grill on site, restroom, and a warming hut. This lake can be fished from shore, kayaks, float tubes, or battery powered watercraft. Located only 90 minutes from Colorado Springs and Denver, this lake is completely secluded and surrounded by towering 14,000 foot peaks. The rod fees for this property are an additional $150 per angler with an 8 angler maximum.

 

 

 

 

Puma Hills River Ranch is a secluded property and is located in the beautiful Tarryall valley. This piece of water has been long coveted by area locals and is a must see in our area. Located about 1 hour west of Colorado Springs, its also one of our closest stretches of private water. There is 2 1/2 miles of river and it would be extremely hard to fish all of it in a full day. In fact, most of our guests book at least 2 days here so they can fish the entire stretch. The access is extremely easy and the river holds great populations of rainbow and brown trout. Complete solitude and great fishing will be the typical experience at Puma Hills River Ranch. Rod fees are an additional $125.00 per person and we have a 6 person maximum. This property fishes best pre and post runoff.

 

 

 

The Abell River Ranch is located on the gold medal fishing waters of the South Platte river. Just an hour from Colorado Springs in Lake George, Colorado, The Abell River Ranch features diverse conditions from long riffles and undercut banks to deep pools and gentle currents. Ideal for anglers with some experience, The Abell River Ranch is home to natural Brown, Rainbow, Cutbow and Cutthroat Trout populations. The spring, summer, and fall dry fly fishing is fantastic here. This location is one of our Guides favorites. Rod fees are an additional $200 per angler with a 2 person minimum. This location is extremely popular and books out extremely fast.

 

Rainbow Valley Fishing Club.

One of our newest offerings located just 30 minutes from Colorado Springs! This area is a series of 6 lakes that hold truly large brown, rainbow and brook trout.  Dry fly, nymphing, and streamers are all effective methods on these lakes. The property also boasts an amazing clubhouse with indoor and outdoor cooking facilities and is situated perfectly for small or large groups. If you want a great experience with beautiful surroundings, check out Rainbow Valley! This property fishes well from May to October. Rod fees here are an additional $75.00 per angler.

Santa Maria Ranch in South Park, Colorado is just over an hour away from Colorado Springs, and offers stunning vistas and long, meandering runs ideal for beginners and experts alike. You'll find great populations of wild of Brown, Brook, Rainbow and Cutbow Trout here. There are even certain times of the year where very large fish inhabit the system. This is a great location mid summer for throwing dry flies. This location books out very fast and we recommend booking MONTHS in advance. This location is amongst one of the hard core small stream anglers favorites. Rod fees at this location are an additional $150 per person with a 4 person maximum.

 

 

Rainbow Falls Mountain Trout is less than an hour from downtown Colorado Springs and ideal for anglers just starting to get their feet wet. The still waters of these lakes provide the perfect conditions to kick-start your fly fishing journey or a magnificent and laid-back fishing experience. Here, our Orvis-Endorsed guides will help you learn all of the tactics and techniques in conquering large trout. Rod fees for this location are an additional $140 per angler.

 

 

Rawhide Ranch is one of our prime private water options. Rawhide is on the North Fork of the South Platte and affords ample opportunity at 3-10 lb trout. Located about 1.5 hours from Colorado Springs and 1 hour from Denver, the Rawhide is a great nearby option to fish for true trophy trout. We are the only outfitter in the area with exclusive access to Rawhide. Trips here book out extremely fast. Rod fees at this location are an additional $265.00 per person with a 2 person minimum.

 

 

Shawnee Meadows is our other property on the North Fork. Like Rawhide, it is located 1 hour from downtown Denver and 1.5 hours from Colorado Springs. The recently restored stream is an absolute haven for trophy trout and holds a wealth of healthy 3-10+ pound fish. If you are looking for easy access, solitude, and the chance at trophy trout, this is a great choice! We are the only outfitter in the area with exclusive access to Rawhide. Trips here book out extremely fast. Rod fees at this location are an additional $265.00 per person with a 2 person minimum.
