« All Events

Please join us for this very special event featuring a day of fly tying by the ladies!

We will have 5 prominent fly tyers from the area doing a tying demo throughout the day. The tyers will be set up throughout the shop and doing fly tying demos from 9am to 2pm.
Come see Anh Thai, Cat Toy, Rachel Leinweber, Amy Grigg, and Lydia Wickizer tie their favorite fly patterns.

This is a great opportunity for fly tyers of all abilities to ask questions, learn, and be a part of the fly tying community!
We will even have some giveaways throughout the day.

Dont miss this chance to see some of most creative and awesome women fly tyers!

Anh Thai- After moving to Boulder, Anh began fly fishing in Colorado’s Front Range streams almost five years ago. Her passion for the outdoors has come hand-in-hand with exploring new waters for wild trout and testing new fly patterns devised at the vise. Although she fishes and ties flies year-round, introducing others to fly fishing and fly tying are her favorite pursuits. To her, there’s no better feeling than sharing an inclusive, safe space with like-minded individuals who come together to learn a new skill, swap knowledge, and encourage each other. When Anh isn’t exploring new waters or tying flies, she can be found mountaineering, birdwatching, foraging for wild mushrooms, or building and restoring bamboo and graphite rods.

Cat Toy- The beautiful river resonates trickles, bubbles, and ripples with the existence of what a river is. Fly fishing for Cat has become the art of fly tying, casting, and the passion to entice the trout at many picturesque rivers, creeks, and streams of Colorado. Fly tying gives Cat the artistic touch of creating the tiniest forms of art for the prize, the trout. Cat grew up in Mammoth Lakes, California, spin fishing trout in the scenic lakes, rivers, and creeks in a quaint ski resort town nestled in the magnificent Southern Sierra Nevada mountain range. She has always had a zest for the outdoors with a background mastery of fly fishing, downhill skiing, mountaineering, and racing motocross. She caught her first trout fly fishing at the Frying pan river in Colorado, and her passion mushroomed to win this gift.
Cat is a professional fly fishing guide for Blue Quill Angler. She is a fly designer for Discount Flies for her Caddis larva, Matchstick midge, and the Burnt French Fry mini leech coming spring/summer 2025. She is on the prostaff team for Solarez, Anadramous Fly Company, Togens Fly Shop, Mystic Fly Rods, Qualifly Reels, Miss Mayfly, Lid Rig, and Shop McFly.
Cat will be tying some of her favorite trout pastries including her Burnt French Fry mini leech, Matchstick midge, and her Caddis larva, aka Green Cheeseburger.

Rachel Leinweber- As the General Manager of Angler’s Covey, Pikes Peak Outfitter, and Colorado Tackle Pro, Rachel brings a lifetime of experience and passion to her role. Having grown up in the fly shop, she developed a deep love for fly fishing from an early age. Rachel tied her first fly at just 8 years old at Angler’s Covey, sparking a lifelong enthusiasm for the craft. Today, in addition to managing operations, Rachel is also one of our guides. She finds joy in the creativity of fly tying, whether she’s experimenting with new patterns in her tying room or sharing her skills while teaching fly tying classes. For Rachel, the vise is more than a tool—it’s a creative outlet and a connection to the art of fly fishing. At this event, Rachel will be tying her Lizzo Caddis pattern, RS2 variation, and other deadly patterns for the South Platte and Arkansas Rivers.

Amy Grigg- Amy, 27, is the passionate owner of ColoradoTightFlies, a small business specializing in handcrafted fishing flies. Based in Colorado, she discovered her love for fly fishing and fly tying four years ago and has since turned her hobby into a thriving enterprise. Amy shares her creative journey and fly fishing adventures on Instagram @ColoradoTightFlies, where her engaging videos inspire fellow anglers. Celebrating two years of sobriety, she embraces life with renewed purpose and dedication to her craft.

Lydia Wickizer- Lydia is a member of Colorado Women Flyfishers, having embarked on her fly tying journey in 2023. Since then, her passion and knowledge have grown rapidly, earning her spots on the Solarez and Ahrex Pro Teams.
Lydia has had the opportunity to showcase her talents at prominent events such as the International Sportsman’s Expo in Denver, Trout Unlimited’s Troutfest, and has served as an instructor for the “Becoming an Outdoor Woman” program through the Colorado Wildlife Federation.
