Report Date: 11/17/2025

ALL BOAT RAMPS ARE NOW CLOSED FOR THE SEASON. HAND LAUNCHED VESSELS ONLY UNTIL ICE ON.

Current Conditions:

Even though stillwater season is winding down that doesnt mean the fishing isnt good! 11 Mile has been fishing very well over the last few weeks. Kayak and float tubes have been great ways to access the lake (as long as there isnt a lot of wind!) and shore fishing has been good as well. We have started to see and catch some larger fish and its a great time to hit this lake. This is a great time of the year to get a trophy size trout in 11 mile on the fly. Water temps are great and supporting good action. Location is always the most important thing at this lake. Try working shorelines that see some wind. Food sources seems to congregate in these areas this time of year. We usually see very solid fishing here clear up until ice-on. Nymphing and streamer fishing has been the most effective for trout. Staying persistent and patient is the name of the game. Focus on correct depths rather than changing flies. Mid mornings have been best for us, but we have also seen a good uptick in the afternoon here.

Hatches:

The hatch cycle on stillwater is slowing down as expected. Chironomids are coming back into play and should start to become a focus again. Scuds, eggs and leaches are also important food sources when the bulk of the hatches stop. This is also a prime time of the year to fish streamers. Remember to switch up your retrieve speeds, sometimes they like it fast, sometimes they like it slow.

Tactics:

For trout, we are seeing some good action on slow crawling leaches. Or you can even "bump" your flies on an indicator rig once in awhile. We are seeing trout feed all over the water column right now. Play with your depth! For Pike, its slowed down a bit, but sucker cove and Witchers in about 8 feet of water would be a good bet. Speed up or slow down your retrieve and focus on extended pauses between strips.

Tips:

Fall stillwater can be an absolutely dynamic time to hit this lake. Covering water will be the most effective tip right now. The fish are a little more grouped up. If you find one fish, youll likely find a lot more.

Weather:

Short Term-  After a long period of not having much to talk about regarding the weather, we are finally getting some interesting (and seasonal) weather around here!  A quick system made its way through the state last night and brought some colder temps and some snow (for some). The high country was able to get a few inches of snow but not much happened in this area. We saw a brief dusting of snow but it did not amount to much. Today will be chilly but not super cold overall. Temps will stay in the 40's today and we could see a good amount of wind. On Tuesday and Wednesday, temps will rebound nicely and it will be quite nice. Highs will be in the 50's and the wind looks to be calm. On Thursday night and into Friday, some more changes will again be coming to the area. While this storm doesnt look all that impactful, it could mean the first real snowfall for our area. Right now precipitation chances are in the 50% range, so not a guarantee at all but we could see an inch or two of snow. Temps will be cold and feel more like they should with highs in the 30's and lows quite cold in the teens.

Long Term-  Going into the weekend, we will warm up a bit again and conditions will be very pleasant. Temps will be right around averages with high temps in the mid 40's. As we head towards Thanksgiving, longer range forecasts are pointing at another system moving through the area. The jury is still out on exact details, but there will be a lot of moisture in this system. Depending on where this storm tracks will determine how much, or little snow we will see.  As nice as it is to have had really nice weather this time of year, we desperately need the moisture and snow. Statewide snowpack is dismal right now and it will be great to finally get some chances at getting some snow.

Elevenmile Reservoir is the heart of South Park fishing. This amazing fishery can challenge anglers mostly because it is so big that it's difficult to locate fish. The reservoir has rainbow trout, brown trout, cutthroat trout, kokanee salmon, carp, and northern pike. The average fish caught is around 16 inches. However, because of the size and depth of the reservoir and the abundance of nutrients, Elevenmile can grow very large trout and pike. There are great facilities including a shower at the main office for campers. A daily state parks pass for Elevenmile is 7 dollars.

This is an area we specialize in and are permitted to guide, so give us a shout if you have any questions or if you are interested in allowing one of our Orvis-Endorsed guides showing you how to conquer Elevenmile Reservoir.
