"Hopper" Juan Ramirez is a full-time fly fishing guide on the South Platte and Arkansas Rivers in Colorado. He has spent the last 6 years guiding full time, learning almost every inch of both rivers. Juan is also an accomplished fly tier and is well known for his small, technical flies used to fool the smart fish in Colorado tailwaters. When not guiding and during the winters, Juan is tying flies at local fly fishing shows, tying demos, or conducting tying classes at Angler’s Covey. He is a pro team member of Loon, Regal Fly Tying Vises, Daiichi Hooks, Semperfli Tying Materials, and is a signature fly designer for Montana Fly Company. "Hopper" Juan did an absolute amazing job at getting us on some quality fish in Pueblo! He was very thorough with his block of instruction before we headed into the tail water. He gave a clear concise message which explained the why portion of each block, which really helped with putting fish in the net. I booked the trip for my father-in-law's birthday who turned 70. My concern was he wasn't going to be able to handle the strong current but our guide did a great job of keeping him dry and helping him navigate every portion of the river. He physically helped him in some portions which just shows you his dedication to provide top-notch quality service. I was expecting to maybe get a handful of eats for the entire half day trip. Juan got us somewhere close to 20 and none of the fish we had on were small with the majority of them being 18" plus. We had an absolute blast and learned a ton. He had no issues sharing tips and tricks with us either. We have zero complaints and would 100% recommend anyone book a trip with him. All in all 10/10 would recommend. He even recommended a local taco shop to eat at afterwards which was phenomenal. I wish this thing would let me give him 6 stars!"
