Growing up in Colorado Springs, Phil spent his free time fly fishing on the South Platte River and playing ice hockey. After spending a season playing Junior hockey in Minnesota, Phil returned to Colorado to attend the University of Northern Colorado. While in college, Phil began guiding the South Platte River full time. After graduating with a degree in History, Phil continued his guiding career. In 2011, Phil began working as a contributor with American Angler Magazine. He is at home on any section of the South Platte but odds are you can find him getting his clients into the large trout that live in the famed Dream Stream. While currently working on his 2nd book, Phil’s biggest passion is teaching fly fishing to anglers of all ages and skill levels. Phil is also a signature fly tier for Montana Fly Company
