Time to get away…

Our hearts go out to all of those suffering from the effects of these fires. This has been a trying time for our community and for many, the challenges will continue. We wish all of our friends and customers the best as you deal with the way the fires, particularly the Waldo Canyon Fire, have affected you.

For those of you needing to step away from the fire and destruction for a while to get out into a peaceful setting and enjoy a calming pastime, we encourage you to go fishing. Although 156,547 acres have burned in Colorado over the past month, a whopping 66,521,853 acres of the State of Colorado remain free from fire. Elevenmile Canyon is open and the Springer Fire had little to no impact on the great fishing available there. This has to be one of the best weekends to try and make it to Elevenmile while Highway 24 is still closed. You will have to go through Canon City to access it but few anglers have been seen there this week. Or head to the Arkansas River. This June has been one of the best in a long time for fishing that river. With little to no runoff the trout have been on the bite!

If you want to get away and you’re not sure where to go, check out some of the locations on our website. Over 9,000 miles of streams and over 2,000 lakes await you. And there’s nothing like the serenity of fly fishing in Colorado to help you regain perspective on what’s really important in life.
