Weekend Outlook

My friend Erik messaged me yesterday that the trees are looking great up around Cottonwood right now.  This may be a great weekend to head up the Pass and take in some of Colorado’s finest!  So what’s the fishing looking like?

 

What’s Hot

The Arkansas River is fishing well right now.=, especially in Bighorn Sheep Canyon and Browns Canyon. Big stonefly dries in the morning, emergers and nymphs in mid day, and hoppers and hopper-caddis rigs in the late afternoon and evening.  Current flow:  he Arkansas near Salida is at 245 cfs.  Further downstream at Wellsville, 267 cfs.

 

The Colorado River up by Windy Gap is Red Hot.  Size 8-10 Rubber Legs, small Tungsten Zebras, and Chernobyl Ants are taking fish from mid-morning to dusk.  Current flow:  The Colorado River near Windy Gap is at 55 cfs.
