TU Day @ The Covey December 2nd
Saturday, December 2nd is Trout Unlimited Day at Angler’s Covey! 15% of all proceeds will be donated to the Pikes Peak Chapter of Trout Unlimited. The Shop is open from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
From our beginning, Angler’s Covey has been a major supporter of the local chapter of Trout Unlimited. Our staff has served on its board, our guides have contributed their time and donated trips, and we have provided countless donations to help raise funds to conserve, protect, and restore Colorado’s cold-water fisheries and their watersheds with a special emphasis to those resources in the Pikes Peak Region.
We’re proud to have worked together on numerous projects to protect sensitive habitats and fisheries, including a project it helped start, Trees for Trout. After the devastation of the 167,000 acre Hayman fire the future of gold-medal fisheries along Upper South Platte was challenged. Trees for Trout is a bold idea to harvest burned trees before the timber rots or is sold, and strategically place them to restore the wintering, breeding and feeding areas of fish and create habitats where none previously existed. The project was awarded the FY 2005 Centennial of Service Challenge Grant by the USDA Forest Service and an Orvis grant for 2006. More recently, we have worked with PPCTU on the “Tying and Giving Back” night, on the work to save the Greenback Trout, and on Trout in The Community project to provide educational opportunities on conserving our local cold water fisheries.
Every year we set aside the first Saturday of December as a “TU DAY” at Angler’s Covey.
Come into the Shop, find some items are your gift list, and know that your purchases will help protect our local watersheds and fisheries.
