Checking it Twice: Guide's Gift List

Some of our guides were checking their lists and checking them twice. They wanted to zero in on some of the best gift ideas for the fly fishers in your life. This is part two of our list and continues the ideas from last week.

Dave Herber

I test drove the Orvis Ultralight boots this year. They are the best boots I have owned. With the Orvis spiking system and the Vibram sole, the traction is excellent. They are the easiest to put on, even when dry. I give them a high recommendation!

Ultralight Boot

Kenny Romero

My gift idea is a water resistant Gear Bag for clothing, equipment, waders, rods and boots. Having everything from fly boxes to hip packs to waders organized in one bag keeps me organized and efficient– particularly for overnight trips. The night before a trip, I make sure all my gear is packed and ready to go. There’s nothing worse than hitting the water and forgetting boots or your hip pack. I love my “Simms” Essential Gear Bag: its big and roomy. It’s a life saver!

Rick Forster

Fishpond’s Quickshot Rod Holder 2.0, and their West Bank Wading Belt System. Both are new in 2019 and show off the innovative thinking from the folks over at Fishpond.

Paul Martinez

The Orvis Wading Socks.  I purchased these wading socks this past winter and have been wearing them on every guide trip and personal fishing trip I have been on this year.  These socks come in mid-weight and heavyweight thickness. I own multiples in both.  The socks are warm in very cold water, and very comfortable in mid-summer temps.  These socks are made of a Marino wool blend that breathe well and stay up on my calfs as I walk along the river all day long.

Kristina Doughtery

Simms G4 Pro Guide Pack. Tons of separate pockets to keep things organized, and a generous main compartment easily fits enough fly boxes to satisfy anyone. The dual zip closure makes this pack easy enough to use with one finger. Kristina isn’t alone when she talks highly of her G4 pack. Quite a few of our guides use this pack.

Jon Easdon

Sage Dart fly rod. This new offering from Sage will have all of the small stream aficionados drooling. This little rod packs a huge bang for the buck with deadly accurate casts and a super comfortable feel in hand. If you like small streams, you will need to check this rod out.

Swing by the shop and talk about these and other gift ideas with our sales force – and they are a force! They don’t just sell the gear – they put it to the test week after week.
