Doug Garvey @ the Hootenanny

In the Hootenanny spotlight this week is Doug Garvey from Green Drake Outdoors, the shop’s local representative for Orvis and Rep Your Water products. Doug told me that he “loves seeing the buzz” that the Hootenanny creates. “Everyone starts thinking about that next fish they are going to pursue — and that creates a fun energy!” So, what does Doug have in store for Hootenanny attendees on March 7?

“I hope to have the new RECON rod, built with the performance attributes of the Helios 3! I am excited to unveil this amazing new fly rod at the Hootenany. Orvis continues to push the envelope in fly rod technology. We want to produce the highest performing fly rods in their price point.”

Doug says that “I’m sure [anglers] will be impressed. Come and try out the new Clearwater and RECON rods. Not to mention the class leading premium Helios 3 rods. This will be the first Spring event in Colorado to have the 2020 RECON for sale!”

Doug says that “At Orvis we strive to build gear for all types of anglers. Whether you are a novice or expert we have the gear for you. Orvis also has an on-going campaign for 50/50 on the Water. The idea is to have a 50/50 split of men to women participating in fly fishing.”

Doug’s passions for fly fishing run the spectrum from salt water fishing to chasing the “dry-fly eating trout” in Colorado. “The Hootenanny is a great way to kick off the season!”
