Umpqua @ the Hootenanny
Alec Gerbec is the Southern Rockies account manager with Umpqua Feather Merchants – a familiar name for Angler’s Covey customers. Umpqua has been located in Louisville, Colorado since 2006 and is the largest distributer of flies in the world. “I think the Hootenanny is very well run and offers not only discounted products but an education piece that keeps people engaged for the day.”
At the Hootenanny, Alec will be focusing on “Umpqua’s new pack line that we just launched at the end of last year. I think that the thought process towards designing the new packs for maximum functionality will get lots of traction during this event.” Alec is excited about thje new pack line featuring a Molle system, which allows anglers to customize their packs to however they would like. “We have provided a number of great accessories that incorporate into this system.” (Shop our online store for Umpqua packs.)
The ZS2 Bandolier Sling Pack (left) and the Rock Creek Chest Pack feature the molle modular attachment station allowing integration with ZS2 accessories. Come in and check out the full line of ZS2 packs! |
Alec will also be talking about Umpqua’s new foam fly boxes that have just launched, and he says to keep an eye out for the release of the “new leader and tippet which has new coating technologies and at a great price.”
Umpqua’s Mini-Midge Fly Box
Of course, Umpqua serves one customer base: the fly fisher. “We are very conscious on price points when it comes to packs so that the consumer can get into one with out breaking the bank. We also pride ourselves on the quality of our hand tied flies and believe that this is one of the most important parts of the system when fishing and want to make sure every angler has availability to these.”
Alec will also be a featured speaker during the Hootenanny. His presentation will focus on the differences between indicator nymphing and Euro nymphing, and he’ll address rigging and technique, as well as where to apply Euro nymphing on the river. Finally, he’ll also cover Euro fly design and what to look for in selecting fly patterns.
“Angler’s Covey has always been a great partner for us and we look forward to our future success working together.” As a shop, we’re proud of this long-standing partnership with a Colorado-based manufacturer of high quality fly fishing products. Come on out and meet Alec:
