Father’s Day Gift Recommendations – From Our Guides!

Fly fishing and fathers often go hand in hand. Many of us owe our fly fishing passions to the many streamside lessons (and astounding patience) given by our fathers. Dad has been there to untangle our tippet, point out rising fish, help us choose our flies, and net that hard-earned trout. Along with teaching us the ways of the water, our fathers teach us even more about life. We are grateful to our fathers for the countless sacrifices they make for us, and for the unforgettable memories shared.

Father’s Day comes around once a year, presenting us with a great opportunity to give back to the person who has given so much for us. We understand that getting the perfect gift for Dad can be challenging, so this year we asked our professional fishing guides to give their best Father’s Day gift recommendations! We hope these gift recommendations help ease the burdon of decision, and we encourage you to spend time on the water with Dad to celebrate this special occasion.

Low end: Terminal tackle. Leaders, tippets, and flies. No angler can have too much of these items.

Middle End: A custom-loaded fly box. Let our expert staff put together the perfect fly box for Dad no matter where he lives. You can never have too many flies! Kuhl pants or shorts. These are by far my most worn piece of clothing. There simply are none better! Another great option is our angling classes. Our progressive classes are designed to help any ability angler take that next step in their progression.

High End: Giving the gift of fly fishing is really hard to beat. We have our Ultimate Fly Fishing Camp on July 11,12, and 14th that covers all things fly fishing and ends with a day on the water! This would be a fantastic experience to share with Dad.

Whether Dad is an advanced angler or just starting out, a guided trip can be the perfect gift to get him to the next level. Maybe even a stillwater, float, or even a private water trip. We have more than enough options for that Dad in your life.

Low End: Cling Magnetic Fly Patch, Simms Solarflex Bug Stopper Hoodie, Shimazaki Dry Shake and SprayWading socks any brand for wet wading.

Middle End: Regal medallion vise, Renzetti Traveler, Stonfo Kaiman, Simms Flyweight Access Boot, Simms G3 Guide Pant

High End: 4 banger river quiver from Riversmith, Orvis Helios D or F Fly Rod, Coors Banquet Ross Reel

The best Father’s Day gift the fly-fishing father in your life can receive is a personalized, guided fly-fishing trip with Angler’s Covey that will complement and enhance the skill and catch success ratio of most novice to the most advanced Flyfisher!

A personal one-on-one guide trip includes an introduction and overview of trout food sources and replicating those food sources, rigging systems and knot tying, proper and effective casting, drifting/mending, effective hook setting, fighting fish to the net, safe fish handling, and proper releasing back into the water.

The best way to improve and develop fly-fishing skills is to learn and practice the techniques Anglers Covey guides use every day on the water!

Angler’s Covey Gift Cards, Guided trip, or AC education classes. I think these would be fun and are very beneficial! Another gift idea is an Orvis Clearwater rod and reel combo kit. Kayak rentals through Pikes Peak Outfitter could make for a great gift too!

Every fisherman is always in need of the day-to-day items that we use to get our rigs ready. A pack of leaders, a spool of tippet, some split shot, a cool new strike indicator, or a fly that is a sure thing! With all those items in mind, a modest gift card from AC will make any fisherman happy and allow him to get ready for his next day on the river.

A full-day guide trip to private water for Dad, with a guest of his choice. To sweeten the deal, a new 5 or 6 Weight Orvis Helios with an Orvis Mirage reel to use on his guided day. Another great option would be an Anglers Covey Destination Trip. Plus that New 5 or 6 Weight Helios to fish on the Destination Trip.

The Fishpond digital thermometer. The best thermometer out there; quick and easy to use with the push of a button. I turn it on and clip it to my shoelaces while I’m fishing then check it a minute later.
